Yes, you read that title correctly! World Vegetarian Day is upon us and is celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 (the entire month of October is Vegetarian Awareness Month). At this time, I am not a vegetarian, but I would like to be one, again. So for the month of October, I will be participating in a "Meatless Monday" challenge hosted by my blog and will take place on Instagram (@astoldbyantoinette). The challenge will officially begin on Monday, October, 6, 2014. There are only four Monday's in October so there's no need for meat eaters to fret.
There are a few reasons that I promote vegetarianism. One thing for sure that turned me away from meat was having to prepare it and feel its raw texture, and a fast that I did almost two years ago (I blogged about that, here, and here). People transition to a meatless lifestyle for a number of reasons. One might become a vegetarian to save money or to maintain a healthy weight or even lessen the chances of ingesting the chemicals that meat is often injected with. If you're not sold on fully giving up your beloved beef or coveted chicken, take the first step and give up meat for one day a week, for just one month.
To join the challenge, simply prepare or purchase a meatless meal every Monday in the month of October. Then upload a picture of the meal(s) to Instagram along with the hashtag #ATBAMeatlessMondays (no apostrophe) & #VegetarianAwarenessMonth. In conjunction with the challenge, I will be posting "Live Well Wednesday" posts on the blog's social media pages, recommending meal options for the challenge, documentaries on vegetarianism, and other health advice.
I hope that you will join me in this challenge!
